Mouzon-Leroux, Champagne Extra Brut L'Ascendant Solera [2019], NV 030825NewWines gravel-and-clay soils in BourgueilA solera in Champagne: roughly half this bottle is the 2019 base wine, the other half a perpetual blend that has been building since 2014, so every release carries a trace of every year before it. Sbastien Mouzon is the ninth generation of his family to farm in Verzy, a Grand Cru village on the Montagne de Reims whose silex flecked chalk gives his wines an unusually stony spine as he puts it, in Verzy the dominant part of the wine is the mineral part.
